Message from the Director

After more than 35 years in the construction industry, I came to Florida Tech with the goal of using my experience to train the next group of construction professionals. I am confident you will find that the Construction Program at Florida Tech is among the best and most personalized in the nation. Our classrooms in the F.W. Olin Engineering Complex provide an outstanding, state-of-the-art learning environment which reflects Florida Tech's commitment to academic excellence and cutting-edge programs and directly supports our mission to prepare our students for a rewarding career in the construction industry.

The construction industry in Florida is booming, making this is a very exciting time to study construction at Florida Tech. In response to this boom, we have developed an entirely new construction program at Florida Tech through close collaboration with industry professionals and in line with the standards of the American Council of Construction Educators (ACCE). The fact that we are literally sitting in the middle of a real-time construction laboratory with countless opportunities for field observations, internships, industry interaction and ultimately job placement makes our program extremely advantageous for prospective students.

Finally, the objective of our program is to provide students with a practical understanding of engineering, business and leadership fundamentals, coupled with a complete working knowledge of construction methods that will allow them to make prudent and timely judgments in managing construction operations. These objectives closely reflect the needs of industry as expressed to the university by our very active Construction Industry Advisory Board. Consequently, when our students graduate, they should be well prepared to take a leadership role in the construction industry with a minimum of on-the-job training and continue on to a very successful and rewarding career.
