Florida Tech offers two summer civil
engineering and construction management programs this summer for middle
and high school students on the Melbourne campus. One is for 7th to
9th grade students; the other is for 10th to 12th grade students. Both
camps are five days long and were developed by Florida Tech's Department
of Civil Engineering and the Construction Industry Advisory Board.
The 10 th - 12 th grade program includes
field trips, design and construction projects, laboratory testing,
and computer projects using Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, and West Point
Bridge Design software.
The 7 th - 9 th grade program offers "hands-on" workshops
that are designed to introduce students to civil engineering and construction
industry fields. The program is designed to provide students with a
variety of hands on design and construction activities, field trips,
and laboratory experiences. This camp is only available as a day camp
and costs $200.
