ASCE - American Society of Civil Engineers Student
Chapter
|
The American Society of Civil Engineers
(ASCE), formed in 1852, is the oldest engineering society
in the United States. With a national membership of over
115,000 professional members and over 15,000 students,
the ASCE seeks to enhance the quality of living throughout
the world by advancing professional knowledge and improving
the civil engineering (CE) practice. These aspirations
are best expressed in the Engineering Code of Ethics.

ASCE Student Chapters
There are currently two-hundred and
fifty seven student chapters and clubs throughout the
college campuses of the nation. To help prepare future
engineers for their careers each chapter sponsors meetings,
regional conferences, student competitions, and other
activities. Many scholarships and awards are also available
for outstanding civil engineering students.

Florida Tech ASCE Chapter
Florida Tech's ASCE student chapter
is a very active organization. Fifty undergraduate and
graduate students work together on various local and
national projects. These students elect officers who
oversee the organizations activities. Faculty advisors Dr.
Paul Cosentino, Dr.
Edward H. Kalajian, Dr.
Howell H. Heck, and Dr.
Jean-Paul Pinellii work closely with the student
chapter, making ASCE an excellent learning experience.

ASCE's regional student competition
is the highlight of the year. Florida
Tech is a member of the ASCE south-eastern region,
a region that encompasses thirty of the nations finest
civil engineering programs from Florida, Georgia, Tennessee,
and Alabama.
