Dr. Kalajian's current research activities
focus on the utilization of waste materials for beneficial uses. Current
funded research projects include the development of specifications for
applications of recycled asphalt pavement RAP as a highway fill material.
He has directed research to evaluate the effects of additives on the
permeability of phosphogypsum for use as a capping material in the permanent
closure of phosphogypsum stacks. Dr. Kalajian serves on the advisory
boards of the Central Florida Safety Council and the Florida Center for
Solid and Hazardous Waste Management.
