Engineering and Construction SUMMER

Florida Tech offers two summer civil engineering and construction management programs this summer for middle and high school students on the Melbourne campus. One is for students entering the 7th to 9th; the other is for students entering the 10th to 12th. Both camps are five days long and were developed by Florida Tech's Department of Civil Engineering and the Construction Industry Advisory Board.

The 10 th - 12 th grade program includes field trips, design and construction projects, laboratory testing, and computer projects using Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, and West Point Bridge Design software. For this camp, students may attend as day students or as residential students living in the residence halls . Students staying in the residence halls arrive Sunday night for check-in and room assignment. Students living in the residence halls will leave the following Friday evening. Day campers arrive Monday morning at 7:45 am and are picked up every day at 5:00 pm.

The 7 th - 9 th grade program offers "hands-on" workshops that are designed to introduce students to civil engineering and construction industry fields. The program is designed to provide students with a variety of hands on design and construction activities, and laboratory experiences.

As a day camp , There are two sessions, the morning session from 8 A.M. to noon and the afternoon session from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Students in either session can have lunch on campus by staying 1 hour longer for the morning session or arriving 1 hour earlier for the afternoon session.
